12 types of dog brushes and their differences


When it comes to choosing the best products to use, it’s always difficult for a dog owner. There are so many products out there, especially when it comes to personal care. Here, we have gathered thirteen different combing tools to try to make your next attempt to buy a combing tool easier.

The 12 types of dog brushes:

1. Slicker Dog Brush

The sliding brushes consist of thin and short wires together on a flat surface. A waterproof brush can be used to remove knots and tangles and to straighten the hair to create lustre. It’s good for dogs that change hair a lot or usually have tangles in their hair. Sliding brushes cost about £4 to £12, depending on the size and brand chosen.

2. Rubber brush for dogs

Rubber brushes are soft brushes made entirely of rubber. These brushes remove loose hair. We use rubber brushes to massage or shampoo our dogs, too! It’s a good tool to use with dogs that waste a lot of time. A rubber brush can be purchased for less than £10.

3. PetFace double sided dog brush

Double-sided brushes offer the best of both worlds. Depending on the type of brush, you will have a side with soft bristles and a side with harder bristles. Usually, these bristles are pin-headed bristles. It allows us to remove dirt and completely brush the dog’s hair and then turn it over and add a little shine with the softer bristles. 4. Dog brush with pin head

Pin head brushes tend to have extra-long bristles. Pin head bristles are usually long metal bristles with rubber tips to avoid scratching your dog’s skin. These bristles have a greater spacing between them, which allows a complete brushing without the static load that can come from a brush with closer bristles. 5. Dog bristle brush

A bristle brush is very similar to the hairbrushes we use on ourselves. This brush will soften the hair and distribute healthy oils to give shine. Most bristle brushes have bristles of different lengths for hair of different lengths. Bristle brushes cost just under £15.

6. Puppy flea comb

A flea comb is a brush that everyone should be familiarised with. This comb usually has long metal tips, placed close to each other so you can catch any flea, flea egg or flea dirt. Flea combs are cheaper, starting at about $3, but usually do not exceed £15.

7. Pickling comb for dogs

A pickling comb is used to lightly trim the undercoat and pull the dead hair. If you have a dog that loosens a lot, or has a very thick coat, a remover comb may be what you need. A pickling comb may cost a little more, but it should come out below £35.

8. Long-toed tooth combe for dogs

Wide-toothed combs are something we, as humans, are extremely familiar with. For dogs, they look a little different, usually the bristles are made of metal. This type of brush removes matte and tangles. The wide-toothed comb comes out around £5 to £15.

9. Puppy Treatment Pente

A cleansing comb has a very simple use: remove dust and dead hair. These combs cost less than £10.

A carpet breaker is used to break large fur mats into sections. Treadmill breakers cost less than £15.
